Protective cover for???

Came home from a vacation and found this on the garage floor. Nobody else was home. Not sure how it got there. Don’t think it fell off my car. Black part is metal. The insert is glass that is clear on one side and kind of has a mesh-like appearance on the other. Anyone have any ideas what it belongs to?
