No proof other than this collection of matches I got him for Valentine's day from an antique store. He loves old lighters and matches... and now I feel stupid. Ignore the rolled up pant leg, the fabric touching the burn hurt.

He was looking through the match books to pick his favorite ones out, and he was striking different ones to see if they were different. I was sitting pressed up beside him positioned like picture #2.

He lit several matches and held them until the flame almost touched his fingers, then blew them out. The 3rd one he struck, he put on top of my knee. I watched the flame and watched him to see what he would do. I had a sinking feeling but want to be able to trust him more (I know, I'm dumb as all hell).

This time when it reached his fingers, he chose to drop it while looking me in the eyes. It landed on my inner thigh and instead of trying to get it, he just watched. The burn was pretty quick and it got flung onto him when I shot up, then he flicked it onto MY couch (from before we got together). Luckily it was out and not hot at that point.

I ran to the bathroom crying clutching my thigh because it hurt so bad. I ran it under cold water while frantically texting one of my friends to document the situation. The more time passed and I had to tell her about what happened, the more pissed I got.

I left the bathroom and he instantly stood up from the couch (matches now mysteriously missing) and tried to walk over to me. I walked the other direction and grabbed a frying pan and told him to get out. I told him if he didn't get out right now then I was going to hit him with it.

He told me it was an accident and he didn't mean to burn me. Apparently, the match burned his finger after just held it until it burned down, and he didn't think to blow it out, so he just dropped it.... on me... on top of a very flammable couch.

I ended up successfully kicking him out and he decided to start a fire in the backyard. He has not tried to apologize, he stares at me with these empty apathetic eyes. I refuse to let him inside.

He tried to set me on fire.
