Original FF7 Limit Breaks..

I'm playing the original for the first time and I'm not sure if it's normal, but I constantly have Limit Breaks on all my characters and whenever I get hit my health regenerates.. it kind of defeats the purpose of combat to me and I'm not sure if I did something since it wasn't like that in the beginning.
