This is the tale of my win against the throbbing king with only a 1HP mage remaining.

Introducing today's heroes :

- Rogitochka

This stray cat survived the battle royale going on in my attic. His natural high stats made him a perfect all-rounder, so I sent him on the adventure as a cleric. What he lacked in utility spells he made up for in raw healing power. With godspeed and holy dash she was an ambulance on paws.

- Blanquita

Pestilence herself, her role was simple : get in the middle of the field and be an absolute annoyance by stacking debuffs and health draining moves.

- Felisa

Don't be fooled by her ferocious look, she is a pure spellcaster. She was the last cat to stand up to the king and clutched the win against the jaws of defeat.

- ???

The 4th cat was a tank, unfortunately that's the only thing I can remember. Even its name was taken by the wall of f̸̡̢̛̟̗̗͖̮̯̣̯͓͓̖͐͋͑͑͊̀̂̇̉̈́͊̕͝l̶̟̦̤͆͂̇̈́͗e̷͔̞̖̝̺͇͑͌͘s̵̨̡̖̬͉̫̱̱͇͂̉̍͆͑̓̌͆̆͆̿̀̕͜͝h̶̛͈̳́̍̇̈́̍͊̽̊̀͗̇̄̚

How the fight went on :

My team had a major flaw in its design. I had no damage. My main damage dealing tools were the mage's double mega blast hitting for a measly 30 damages. Other damage sources were the cleric's occasional holy light and the necro stacking leeches.

The throbbing king's gimmick is pretty straightforward, he prepares a large cast for a turn and you need to move your cats to the safe zones. This is made harder by the boss ensnaring you and adding a lot of wet tiles restricting your movement. But this was fine because even if they took the hit, my cats could heal the damage back up.

After 10 turns, exhaustion started affecting my cats but I thought I was fine because even though I had played slow and steady, the king was only 50 HP away from death.

Then the second phase hit me : the boss reset all his debuff so he wasn't taking 30 leeches damage every turn anymore. That slippery piece of royalty kept jumping around the map and my mage couldn't catch up to him while moving two tiles per turn. Turns kept advancing, exhaustion stacks meant I couldn't sustain the damage anymore Felisa and then Blanquita both fell a first time only to be brought back by Rogitochka's revive. But despite eating a whole turkey, Rogitochka eventually fell and so did Blanquita for a second time.

However there was a silver lining, the king was a megablast hit away from death, so I sent a 1 HP Felisa after him hoping there wouldn't be a third phase because this was her last turn alive before taking bleed damage at the end of the round. So I megablasted away and the king fell and never rose again.

Yet the fight didn't end, there were still 2 regular enemies alive. The first was in range of a second megablast, but the second was too far and I already had exhausted my movement. With no solution left, I awaited my slow death from the bleed at the end of the round.

But a miracle happened : the last enemy ran away. Regular enemies sometimes do that when the boss was killed before they were. And with that the end of the round never came, Felisa survived, the other two injured cat got back up and the fight ended.

These three cats may live on to be everyone's ancestors or they may also die in a petty fight against stray cats. But they will live on in my memory for a long time.
