saved gif in imessage saved photos that i never received?

today i texted a number i deleted as a contact a few months ago and it wiped out all of our chats. they haven’t responded yet. but in our saved photos section of imessage it shows a gif that i haven’t even actually received. any ideas what this could mean? did they send me something and block me?
