After the kind feedback I got from some of you on my [YouTube practice companion](https://www.reddit.com/r/Drumming/comments/1quoto5/practice_with_youtube_videos/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button), I'd love to share another feature I've been working on for a while: a rudiment timing trainer that gives you real feedback on how accurate your playing is.

It listens through your phone's (or iPad's) mic while you play on a practice pad (or whatever you have nearby), and tells you whether each hit lands great, early, or late. The video shows a 30 seconds double stroke roll. At the end you get a summary of how you did.

I practice on an old e-kit or a pad next to my desk, neither of which have MIDI. I couldn't find anything out there that gives you this kind of feedback without a MIDI connection.

This is an early preview with three exercises, but the foundation can grow into a lot of other rudiments and exercise types. I'd love to hear what you think, and what you'd want to practice with it.

If you want to try it, [fill out the form](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfEhEHTEPOFnHFPbFJiomoSFWJPZQnoLaxEAXhG-FBD9ky9Fw/viewform?usp=dialog), and I'll send you an invite to a preview version.

I also just started r/drumjournal for anyone who wants to share exercises, post their progress, or help shape where the app goes next. Happy to hear from you.

And of course, roast my double stroke roll. I'm struggling!
