[CO] Vail, Feb 23-26
I'll be skiing in Vail for four days, hoping to find someone to ski with for some/all of the days. Please reach out to me if you are interested in skiing together or if you have questions.
I'm an advanced / low-level-expert skier. Things I like doing, conditions-dependent of course, in no particular order:
-
Obviously if there's fresh soft powder then enjoy that :)
-
Fast GS runs down groomed blacks and harder blues. At Vail, runs like Riva Ridge, Blue Ox, Gandy Dancer, Northstar/Northwoods, etc. I'll usually hit 40-50mph on such runs, occasionally hitting 55-60mph when conditions are perfect.
-
Spaced-out glades where it isn't too steep
-
Randomly exploring Blue Sky Basin and backcountry. Vail back bowls conditions are pretty variable (often the snow is pretty crusty due to wind, which is just no fun), but when the conditions are reasonable it can be fun to explore.
-
At the end of a day of intense skiing, I may want to just cruise on some groomed blues :)
Things I can do though I don't really like doing anymore:
- Most moguls: too much of a workout. Of course you sometimes end up on moguls unexpectedly, especially in more backcountry areas, and I can handle them if needed as long as it is not very steep. Though I don't seek them out, and when I have to do them I will likely want to stop every 5-10 moguls to reset.
Things I won't want to do:
-
Cliff jumping
-
Going through the park
-
Dense trees, or trees on a steeper slope
Few logistical comments:
-
Just looking for someone to ski with during the day, I have plans in the evenings.
-
I'm fairly familiar with Vail mountain at this point (I've skied there 20 days over the last few years). So totally fine if it is your first time at Vail!
-
Unless the conditions are terrible, I don't usually take many breaks. I like getting a quick lunch at Wildwood BBQ (I never understand why anyone goes to Two Elk lol), and other than that just periodic short breaks for going to the bathroom / filling up water bottles. I'm fine doing a run or two on my own if you want to take a longer break though.
-
For simplicity, I said "ski with" in this post since I ski ... but I'm fine skiing with a snowboarder too!
Let me know if you are interested in connecting!
