PSA for new GoMining users: efficiency matters WAY more when BTC drops
Something I don’t see explained clearly enough for beginners:
When BTC price is high, you can get away with being inefficient.
When BTC drops, inefficient miners get absolutely wrecked.
Your BTC output is basically:
Mining rewards – maintenance costs = your real payout
But maintenance costs don’t “care” what BTC is doing.
So when BTC price drops, your reward value shrinks, but your costs don’t shrink at the same rate.
Which means your net payout gets squeezed hard
This is why efficiency becomes everything in a downtrend
If your miner has weak efficiency / discount, your payout can start feeling like:
“why did my rewards drop so low?”
“is this broken?”
“is this even worth it?”
Usually it’s not “broken”… it’s just math hitting harder during a BTC dip.
When BTC is down, upgrading raw TH/s without improving efficiency can actually be a trap.
You’re basically buying more hashrate… but also buying more maintenance exposure.
Better mindset (especially in bear-ish conditions)
Instead of chasing bigger numbers, chase: max sats kept per day, not max TH/s owned.
Because in a downtrend, the winners are the ones keeping the most net BTC after fees.
TL;DR
When BTC is pumping, efficiency is “nice.”
When BTC is dumping, efficiency is survival.
