$100 Compensation is a scam
Could someone please explain to me if it’s even possible to get the “$100 compensation” that comes with postage… from my experience it’s impossible.
For context, I have a small business and am posting items to customers. I don’t get broken items much (maybe twice a year) but every time I do I put in a ticket through my mypost business account for compensation for damaged item and it gets either declined or they ask me to get my customer to jump through hoops which never really works because there’s nothing in it for the customers.
For example, my last damaged item claim went like this. Customer received the item damaged and sent me pics. I uploaded them to the ticket that I submitted under damaged item. Aus post then sent me instructions further which are below:
-
Have addressee complete a CN24 damage report and mail it to Aus post (my customer is in France & doesn’t speak english, also why would the receiver of the package do this? They’re not receiving compensation? also means they’d need to pay postage on this form to mail it to aus. I can’t ask my customer to do this - it seems completely unreasonable.)
-
Addressee to contact La Post & do a claim through them. I had a look at the website Aus post linked. Naturally, it’s all in French. Again, how am I suppose to receive any compensation with my customer doing this application?? it seems like the Aus post compensation is more for the receiver than it is the sender.
-
Include a receipt for the goods to prove the value. When I uploaded pics I included the buyers receipt, which is what they paid for the item but it seems Aus post want the receipt from me buying the item originally.. but i sell handmade items, I don’t buy the product that I sell, I make it... don’t know how to get around this.
Anyway is this compensation actually possible to get?? Without forcing my customers to jump thru hoops when they‘ve already had the disappointment of receiving a broken item. Is there anything I can do to make this easier??
Sorry for the rant :/
