New exec at bouse advice
I rushed last semester and became the social chair right after initiation. Im at a decent sized school, with a pretty solid Greek life scene. But, we are just absolutely bouse and i was aware of that before i rushed. I really like these guys (24 actives + 4 pledges) and there’s a decent variety of people in here, but becoming an exec has made me realize how terrible most of these guys are at problem solving. It feels like everyone except for me and the pres and vp can’t do ANYTHING. The thing I can’t wrap my head around is how we have such a huge problem recruiting… of all the frats on the row, we resemble the typical frat stereotype the least. Our identity is in music and we’re literally at a great music school. It feels like I could look at half of the student body and see them fitting in with us well. My PC was 11 people, so we were sure that we were figuring it out and on the rise, but we all kinda realized that our rush chair just got lucky that we all stuck with it. I think the big underlying issue is that these guys are just strange socially. Most of their friends are in the frat, so when im planning a party it’s literally the friend groups of maybe 6 guys + whoever sees the flyers, and most of the guys either don’t show up or congregate amongst themselves. I also run our social media, and I can’t even get these guys to fucking comment or repost our shit. I love them but holy shit im on the verge of transferring bc i can’t just drop. I just feel like I could do everything better at every position, but my little mistakes are magnified while the other guys can fuck up something like an entire rush week event and it just slides. Im almost 22 and im not sure I want to spend my last few semesters feeling this. Sorry this is lowkey all over the place and I just needed to rant, but does anyone have any advice for me? It would mean a lot.
