Merc question for the Warlock

Starting a SSF Fire Warlock and wondering if I should stick with the act 1 merc with a 3x Tal bow or go with the Act 2 merc? Also, what weapon is best for an act 2 merc for Normal Difficulty? Normally, I use a Malice Scythe but I'm wondering if there's a better option for lower levels
