Victorian socialist party
Whats everyone's thoughts on the Victorian Socialist parties policies? from what I can see they look pretty bloody good? especially for where the country is at right now.
if you google what are the happiest countries in the world right now based on the populations opinion, the top 5 are all Scandinavian countries, that mostly use social democracy system. Norway for example, 5+ million population nationalised their mining sector 10yrs ago and they now already have a 2+ trillion dollar sovereign wealth fund. Think of what we could do with our mining sector over here which is much bigger.
Their other policies are taking back and nationalising Telstra and Commonwealth bank. Tick for me.
10% wealth tax. Tick for me.
They suggest this alone is enough to find mental and dental via Medicare and strengthend social networks, affordable housing ect.
What are your thoughts? is this just fluff? are these policies actually achievable over here down under? how does nationalising mining even work? I doubt Gina will happily hand over the keys? any Labor leader in the past that has even attempted to tackle mining has been smeared into oblivion.
