I hate Berdly. He's obnoxious and self-centered, completely oblivious to how absolutely nobody likes him, and his backstory is such a nothing-burger. Berdly is funny when actually funny characters are making jokes at his expense. Berdly by himself is occasionally sometimes funny and not nearly enough to justify how fucking painful it is every time this clown walks on screen and starts running his stupid mouth.

Apparently he's a "good friend" when he and Noelle are by themselves, but when they are not by themselves Berdly does nothing but cut Noelle off and speak for her, put words in her mouth, and completely disregard her feelings to feed his own completely un-earned ego and "title" that, mind you, NOELLE GAVE HIM. And the worst part is that he was genuinely so close to becoming better. I thought that after Chapter 2, even if he thought it was a dream, Berdly would've taken it to heart and realized "Hmm, maybe I have been acting like a total prick. Maybe I should be more considerate of others and stop trying to make myself out to be something that I most certainly am not."

But nope! Completely no impactful character development on Berdly's end. He remains a smug, obnoxious nerd that cuts people off and glazes himself to the high heavens because he got a tiny bit of recognition when he was like 5 years old.

And as for the weird route? That doesn't make him better. Good on Berdly for noticing Noelle in distress and trying to stick up for her, but at the same time... if Berdly really IS that socially aware to know when Noelle is uncomfortable or distressed, then why does he continuously shove her around and disregard her voice? How did he not notice how distressed Noelle was with Queen in the normal route until Queen literally kidnapped her and said to Berdly's face that she was lying to him? And I'm not saying Berdly is entirely in the wrong for pushing Noelle around all the time either. Berdly is clearly dense, Noelle needs to stick up for herself and tell Berdly to shut the hell up sometimes. But she wouldn't be in this situation in the first place if Berdly didn't have his head up his own ass 24/7.

And you know what? Maybe I could even just put all that aside, pass him off as the annoying kid in Deltarune and pay no mind to him. But the thing that pisses me off the most about this stupid smug bird is his fans, and there are WAY more than he deserves. They glaze him more than he glazes himself. They treat him like the best thing since sliced bread and overexaggerate to no end how "funny" he is (not even top 10 funniest characters in deltarune, at least imo), or how "deep" his backstory is (its fucking not). And god forbid you call him annoying because you'll be flooded with Berdly fans telling you "HE'S ANNOYING BECAUSE HE HAS A REALLY TRAGIC BACKSTORY" like that justifies him acting like a total dick to the one person unfortunate enough to be friends with him. Even if his backstory was the most tragic and emotional one in the entire game, that still wouldn't give him a shield from being considered annoying for acting annoying. Stop trying to defend your lord and savior Berdly because I guarantee you are not going to change anyone's mind and you're just going to make him obnoxious to talk about in addition to making him obnoxious to watch.

Berdly is riddled with flaws as a person and, at least as of now, has shown 0 signs of actually improving on them, and it's mostly because Susie just allows him to believe all that stuff was a dream. I really genuinely think I would like Berdly if he either took that "dream" to heart or if he just knew it was real, because then his character wouldn't stagnate at the annoying kid and his bootlicking fanbase would finally have a justifiable reason for liking him.

That Fucking Bird That I Hate
