Trying to figure out dialing in DV on my G4 and having no luck

I’ve searched the forum and I know it seems like I’m not the only one. The best answer I’ve seen is put it on DV Vivid and adjust the setting to FMM to get the colors closer but raising brightness.

I had Netflix on and selected a DV movie and I noticed how dark the DV Standard mode is. No matter how I set it, even in bright scenes, it just looks dark and flat. The only way it looks good is on vivid which I know is pretty inaccurate. Is that just the way it is? Any other settings I can adjust? I have almost every brightness setting I can find to the max, including high contrast settings. Any thoughts?

I’m actually about to buy either the Bravia 8 II or S95F because I prefer the QD OLEDs, but DV has me concerned and is slightly pushing me to the Samsung just because it doesn’t have DV.

And yes, I do recognize that it’s the way the creator intended, but it’s just too dark and lifeless on Standard, Cinema or Filmmaker modes. Thoughts? Thanks!
