Ivanhoe, by Sir Walter Scott, was the first novel to feature Robin Hood
The legend of Robin Hood had existed for centuries, but SW was the first to appropriate him for a novel, and in so doing, created many of the myths and connections that have endured to this day - such as linking Robin Hood to Richard the Lionheart, and Prince John.
He also wrote the scene where Robin Hood fires an arrow that splits another arrow down the middle. As seen in the Disney film.
