T'would be a lie to claim surprise,
to seek support and be denied,
that on deaf ears my words would fall,
like all the other ignored calls,

T'would be a lie to hide my eyes,
to wipe away the tears I cried,
to say that I believed you when
you told me that you loved me then.

T'would be a lie to have hopes high,
to say that I believed you might
like you did once in time before,
stand by my side forever more.

T'would be a lie to even try,
yet still I do with but a sigh,
tell me why does it still hurt so
to see what I already know?
