NN Pets 2025-6
- Birdie: Before becoming famous on YouTube, the Norris Nuts had a pet bird “Birdie.” Sabre once mentioned that their family had the bird about three years before they started their YouTube channel, which means Birdie was part of their lives around 2014 or possibly earlier. It is not publicly known what type of bird it was, how old it was when they got it, or how long they had it in total. Pet birds commonly live between five and fifteen years, depending on the species and the care they receive. Because of this, Birdie could have been with the family for only a few years or potentially much longer.
- Fishies: In 2018, N was gifted pet fish. The most well-known fish was named Fishy, although there were other fish in the tank as well. Fishy was a goldfish, and at the time, the parents did not do much research before bringing him home. When they first got Fishy, they reportedly left him in the plastic bag from the pet store overnight, which meant he had very limited oxygen. His aquarium was extremely small and did not have a filter, which made it difficult to keep the water clean. The tank became dirty, and he was only fed one flake of fish food per day. Sadly, Fishy died shortly after they got him. The lack of proper feeding, limited space, poor water quality, and insufficient oxygen likely contributed to his death.
- Fishy 2.0: the family decided to replace him with another fish, often referred to by fans as “Fishy 2.0.” The new fish was meant to make up for the loss of the original Fishy and to cheer N up. However, the same problems reportedly continued. There was still a lack of proper research about goldfish care, and the tank conditions were not ideal. The aquarium was small, did not have proper filtration, and the overall care routine did not significantly improve. As a result, the replacement fish also died not long after being brought home.
- Pheobe: In June 2021, Brooke surprised Flizzy with a puppy as part of what appeared to be both a gift and a “test” to help persuade Justin into allowing the family to have a dog long-term. This was the first puppy the Norris Nuts bought, and the dog was a labradoodle named Phoebe. At the time, it was presented as being “for Justin,” even though he had clearly stated many times that he did not like dogs. The kids were nervous about how he would react, since he had openly said he hated dogs in the past. However, it was later revealed that the situation was partly a prank, and the puppy was actually meant for Flizzy.
- Bubba: Before N was born, Brooke had told Justin that she would never get a dog. However, in July 2021, the family posted a vlog titled “Surprising the Norris Nuts with their own Puppy”, introducing a cavoodle puppy named Bubba. Viewers saw Bubba arriving after a flight, appearing very small and overwhelmed. Being transported on a plane can be extremely stressful for young puppies due to loud noises, unfamiliar environments, and separation from their litter. In the footage, some fans felt that Bubba looked frightened and uncomfortable as she was being held and introduced to the family. The children were excited and affectionate, crowding around her, which can sometimes be overstimulating for a young puppy adjusting to a completely new setting. About a week after adoption, Bubba tragically died following an incident that reportedly involved Justin. The exact details of what happened were never fully explained publicly, which led to significant speculation online. What later intensified the controversy was the claim that while videos featuring Bubba were still being uploaded, she had already passed away. Some viewers felt this meant the family continued posting pre-recorded content involving her after her death, which caused backlash.
- Winky: Very shortly after Bubba’s death, the family brought home another puppy. He was originally named Snuggie, but they later changed his name to Winky. Like Bubba, Winky was flown in and picked up from the airport by Brooke and Justin. Many viewers noted that Winky appeared extremely frightened when he arrived. Being transported by plane at such a young age can be overwhelming for a puppy, especially after being separated from familiar surroundings. In the footage, he seemed nervous and unsure while being held and introduced to his new environment. As with Bubba, some fans felt that the parents did not fully understand early puppy behavior or the importance of giving a new dog space and time to decompress. Unlike Bubba, Winky remained with the family and is still with them today. He is especially close to Sockie, who has taken a major role in his care. She trains him, takes him to dog competitions, and appears to have developed a strong bond with him. Many viewers believe she has shown the most understanding of dog behavior and responsibility within the family, forming a deep and consistent connection with Winky over time.
- Baz and Cheddar: At one point, B and N were each given a guinea pig, named Baz and Cheddar. The pets were introduced on camera, and it was said that Flizzy would help care for them. Over time, however, viewers began questioning how much consistent care the guinea pigs were receiving. About a month after getting them, there was an incident where the guinea pigs escaped. It was suggested that this may have been connected to people coming onto the property after the family’s address was leaked, though the exact circumstances were never fully clarified. In another moment shown on camera, N brought Baz outside into the backyard, and the guinea pig ran off under a structure. The family had to work to lure it back. During that stressful situation, N anxiously asked, “Did I step on it?”, which some viewers interpreted as fear linked to past traumatic events involving pets. Eventually, Baz and Cheddar were moved to Flizzy’s house. Some viewers commented that their enclosure did not appear very clean in certain clips, which led to criticism about overall animal care. In a later vlog around the time Phoebe was introduced, B mentioned getting “sick of” the guinea pigs, which further fueled discussion online about whether the pets were a long-term commitment. The guinea pigs have not been shown on camera for quite some time. In May 2025, there was a brief mention of them, including a comment suggesting that N did not regularly care for them. Since then, there has been speculation among viewers about what happened to Baz and Cheddar, but no official update has confirmed their status.
- Demi: In June 2022, after ongoing security concerns and reported trespassing at their home, the Norris Nuts decided to purchase a trained guard dog named Demi. She was a German Shepherd brought over from the UK, reportedly costing around $100,000. Because she was imported, the process of flying her to Australia took weeks, which many viewers felt would have been extremely stressful for a working dog already undergoing a major life transition. Professional trainers from the company also traveled to explain how to handle Demi properly and demonstrate her protection training. Much of the focus in the vlogs was on her role as a security dog and how she would respond to threats. Some viewers felt uncomfortable with how heavily the emphasis was placed on protection rather than on her emotional wellbeing and adjustment to a busy family environment. In early footage, trainers mentioned that Demi was overwhelmed. In several scenes, she was seen lying on her back, licking her lips, and yawning, behaviors that in dog body language can indicate stress or discomfort, especially in overstimulating environments. With multiple children and other pets in the home, some viewers questioned whether the environment was appropriate for a highly trained working guard dog. Brooke later mentioned the possibility of breeding Demi, which sparked additional criticism online. However, that plan did not move forward. Not long after, Demi stopped appearing in videos. In August, it was briefly stated that she had been rehomed, with the comment that “Demi is gone, everybody is safe and healthy.” Winky wasn't in the videos when Demi was around, causing speculations that Demi and Winky weren't getting along, though no official details were provided publicly. According to later online discussions and reported messages from the new owner, Demi was rehomed because the environment was too loud and stressful for her needs, not because of a specific accident. It was said that she is now safe and doing well in a more suitable setting.
- Pluto: In August 2023, the Norris Nuts brought home another puppy named Pluto. He was presented as a surprise for Sockie and joined Winky as one of the family’s current dogs. Like previous puppies, Pluto was flown in and picked up from the airport by Brooke and N. In the arrival footage, some viewers felt that Pluto appeared overwhelmed and overstimulated, which is common for young puppies experiencing travel, loud noises, and a sudden change in environment. Being transported by plane and immediately introduced to new people can be stressful for any dog, especially at a young age. As with Winky, Sockie has taken on the main caregiving role. She trains him, spends the most consistent time with him, and appears to have built a strong bond with him. While B and N have expressed wanting to keep the dogs, viewers have often pointed out that Sockie seems to be the one most actively involved in their daily care and training.
- Buttons: Buttons was a foster kitten briefly associated with the Norris Nuts. A pet charity or animal welfare organisation posted about her, and some fans grew concerned about her wellbeing based on the family’s history with pets. When Buttons was around the house, it was noted that she often had her ears back whenever the family was loud, a clear sign that she was stressed or fearful. Despite this, there were reports that the family did not adjust their behavior to make her more comfortable. Currently, the family has not mentioned getting another cat, suggesting that the novelty of a feline companion may have worn off.
