What’s the hype behind single pickup guitars?

Question

I’m asking this genuinely, not to be rude or anything like that. Cuz like, I see so many guitars with one humbucker pickup in the bridge position these days, and I’m just like, “why would anyone want that?” I feel like if you don’t use the neck pickup, there’s no need to flat out remove it. If you take out the neck pickup, you’re removing a lot of options for tones. I’m all about versatility and tonal options in my instruments, so I really don’t see the appeal of a single pickup guitar. And if I were to go into how upset it made me to see so many single pickup guitars being released for 2026, this post would turn into a rant. So I ask, what is the hype behind having only one pickup in the bridge position? Is it something I just won’t be able to understand until I get one for myself?
