Does Dell 500W PSU 5K7J8/Y7R0X compatible with Dell G5 5090?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently looking to upgrade my Dell G5 5090 i5-9400, GTX 1660,32GB Ram for renderering with Blender. I’m planning to install an ZOTAC RTX 5060 Ti 16GB.
I found a Dell 500W PSU on Dell Canada for $139.99 CAD, but the site only lists compatibility for XPS 8940 and OptiPlex 7080. ChatGPT said these share the same proprietary 6-pin/4-pin pinout but I need to be 100% sure.
The Plan:
- System: Dell G5 5090 (currently 360W PSU).
- Upgrade PSU: Dell 500W PSU (Part # 5K7J8 or Y7R0X).
- Upgrade GPU: RTX 5060 Ti 16GB (180W TDP).
- ZOTAC RTX 5060 TI length ~220.5 mm length,
- Primary Use: Long Blender render
- Note: This is not a gaming build.
My Questions:
- Can anyone confirm this specific PSU fits the G5 5090 chassis and motherboard?
- Is 500W sufficient for a 180W card, with a i5-9400 CPU or am I pushing the limits of this Dell unit too far?
- Are there any known issues with the 5K7J8 (Delta) vs the Y7R0X (Chicony) versions ?
