I'm stuck in a terrible cycle with my Kanto YU4 speakers. Is there anything I can do to fix them, or do they need to be replaced?

Tech Support

My Kanto YU4 speakers (that I've had for less than a year) are currently connected to a Mac Mini 2012 I use as a dedicated streaming device via a 3.5mm mini-jack AUX RCA. About 6 weeks ago, the APD function would be randomly triggered. I tried turning up the volume all the way to 100% on the Mac. I tried holding the bass reset button (and saw the blinking light), but neither of those worked.

A few days ago, the speakers died completely. The LED power light was dead. I checked:

  • if the switch on the back was on (it was)
  • if the outlet it was plugged into (it worked)
  • if it was in stand-by mode (still had no power)
  • if the batteries in the remote (they were fine)

The next day, the LED power light was miraculously working. I could use the speakers again! However, the random ADP was happening again. I went through all the motions again: making sure the volume on my mac was at 100%, and holding the bass reset button until I saw the blinking light. Neither of them worked (again). Then the power light was dead again and so were the speakers.

The next day, the light was on again, and everything I listed above happened all over again. So, it's stuck in a cycle of powering on, malfunctioning, and then shutting down completely.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the issue I'm experiencing, but I recently purchased a 4k projector, and the issue with my Kanto YU4 speakers started around then. They are located in the same room

I've tried contacting Kanto via email twice in the last week. I tried calling, but all I get is a "leave a message or email us." They haven't responded. Can these speakers be fixed or do they need to be replaced?
