I js got a death threat

So, I'm pretty new at my school, and I've struggled to make friends my whole life. Recently, I told myself, "I need to fix this," and I made as many friends as possible. Later, I found a girl, and we became good friends. However, many people are jealous, and I've been warned about 15 times now to stop hanging out with her because apparently some guys have a crush on her.

Basically, today I was going about my day when I received a phone call with literal death threats. I was very worried, but I contacted a trusted adult and lodged a formal complaint. After that, I did some research and found out who those guys were, and 90% of my worries went away. I told one of my friends about this, and she said I need to distance myself from that girl. So I did—I sent her a text saying I need some space, and she replied, "Okay."

But now I'm wondering if I made the right decision. By the way, I'm not even 18 yet, and here I am. 😔
