Help with amp/receiver configurations
Hi Folks. Hoping for some guidance on options for setting up my HT and additional speakers in my house.
The house is very open concept. I would like to have 3 zones that I can play music in. The set-up does not need to play music in more than one zone at a time.
Zone 1: TV nook (off the main room) where I want to have a 5.1 HT set-up.
Zone 2: Main room where I have 2 in-wall speakers that I'd like to be able to use in a 2.1 config, using the sub from the adjacent HT set up.
Zone 3: Adjacent patio where I have 2 in-ceiling speakers in the overhang soffit. This zone would be a 2.0 setup.
Notes: 1) Built-in-speaker wires all terminate to a wall box in the TV nook. 2) Pretty much all of the media we watch/listen too will either be over a streaming service or through a network connection.
I had been looking into a 9 channel receiver with assignable zones. This seems like it could work, but the receivers are very expensive. I don't really care to use a receiver specifically, as streamlining HDMI inputs is not important for me. We don't have multiple input sources or gaming consoles.
I'm thinking it might be best to set up a 5.1 receiver for the HT, and then 2 separate amps for the other 2 zones. If I did this, could I have 2 different sources (wires) going to the SW?
Thanks for any feedback and suggestions!!!
