BF and I had the same oddly specific and vulgar nightmare at the same time

We both fell asleep on the couch so when we went to actual bed we were half asleep already. I(F) fell asleep as big spoon to him.

When we both woke we were shaken up due to the strange and unsettling nature of the dreams. He first said “is that really you” because in his dream I had turned into a man and was trying to commit non consensual sexual acts on him from behind. Before he could tell me that, I was already telling him how I had the most fucked up dreams where he hired a sex worker(f) without asking me but then expected me to participate with them. I told them I wasn’t interested but if he really felt the need to continue that’s fine but let me go. I was very uncomfortable by the woman he chose. They wouldn’t let me leave and were using toys to restrain me. Then out of nowhere a man appeared and started raping my boyfriend without his consent. But in my dream he wasn’t necessarily upset by it, like he was in his own dream. Regardless the point is we were having the same story line.

From there I went on to explain that I realized I was sleeping and was desperately trying to wake up. In the dream I was gasping for air trying to beg him to help wake me up but I couldn’t get any words out. Instead of helping he just smiled and calmly held me down so I couldn’t move, forcing me to stay trapped in my dream. He would offer to slap my face to wake me up but then only tease and do it so lightly it wasn’t helping, almost like enjoying torture while I was terrified.

He said in his dream similarly, he was trying to escape the sexual acts happening to him but I was holding him down and getting aroused by it while he suffered. He said he was trying to wake up but also felt suffocated by me.

When we finished explaining to each other (this was at like 2 or 3 am) we were both just completely speechless how we could have an equally messed up nightmare at the same time, and so specifically similar. I’m not huge on paranormal stuff though I don’t completely think it’s impossible. He brought it up first and asked where would the spirit have come from. That kind of freaked me out and I said maybe we shouldn’t talk about it right now. I think we both felt a heavy presence of something, but it could have been our fear just coming out of those nightmares. I’ve never experienced this before and couldn’t find anyone else with this specific of an example, most just say they had nightmares at the same time. This is a lot more coincidental. So I guess I’m just asking Reddit, WTF just happened??
