To the most skeptical conspiracists - help me understand your perspective.
Just want to start by saying that, while I am not apart of this community, I come in peace. Like many, everything involving the Epstein case is making me re-consider some of my opinions on theories I’ve always doubted. Also, I hate how manipulative the media is and I’m sure we’d agree on that. I’d like to expand my horizons to at least understand why conspiracists think what they do.
For starters - every single time something bad happens (every mass shooting, every terrorist attack, every disruptive event) people scream that it was a false flag or propped up event. This leads me to think that conspiracists don’t believe it’s possible for someone to do bad things out of their own individual agency. As though the concept of a tormented teen shooting people at school can’t possibly happen if not for a higher entity’s influence. So if you are one of these people, what do you think?
Second, and maybe a bit more controversial - I really struggle with how smug/arrogant your average conspiracist is. Like they have all the answers and see things others don’t and can’t believe people don’t believe what they do. It’s so patronizing. My specific issue is that, if people really believed in the depth of the evil behind these conspiracies, why aren’t they freaking out? Why aren’t they very nervous? Why are they confidently going online to talk shit to people and spew their beliefs if they believe the forces behind them are so powerful? I have a hard time thinking that if I believed what they did I would feel comfortable engaging in discussions the way they do.
Anyways - would be grateful for any engagement and not seeking any hostilility. Here to learn.
