I rescued this plant from a green waste bin in October and after a little initial shock she adjusted quite well to living in a house and not a dumpster. There hasn't been much new growth but I chalked this up to it being the winter and wasn't too worried about it. A couple weeks ago however, the leaves have started to dry up but stay green. Oh joy a calathea temper tantrum. This plant sits in bright indirect sunlight under a canopy of (higher up) monstera leaves, so I'm sure this is not sunburn; there is a humidifier nearby keeping the humidity up near 50%; I've switched to watering her with distilled water when the top inch of soil is almost dry. WHAT GIVES???

Then I find that while the drying leaves have slowed down (affected leaves still drying out, but not finding new ones), my plant has decided to push 3 buds out instead of leaves. Is this a good sign?? I've heard that getting a burly-marxii to flower indoors can be rare, but I'm worried this could be her way of saying 'man I better flower before I fully wither up and die for no reason'... what do you think?

P.S. Been thinking about swapping her over to a semi hydro set up in perlite.. should I hold off until the flowers finish blooming? I don't want to interrupt their cycle

Is my Calathea Burle-Marxii happy or mad at me
