Yes, I used Google Translate, I don't know Czech.

There are people who still don't understand what's going on with AI and what it's good for. A lot of people have absolutely no idea how it could be used in games and still have the idea that someone will just generate graphics and videos with it.

So here's an example of an EXISTING AI for creating NPCs, where I set up a pub owner in Troskovice, gave him a character, voice, some basic knowledge and a range of goods, plus a context for what he can talk about. A few lines of text. Six months ago it was worthless. Today it's usable.

Below you can see a transcript of my dialogue with him. Unfortunately, there's no audio recording of his REALTIME GENERATED VOICE, because Facebook can't attach mp3s, but yeah, he speaks Czech quite well.

You can see that when I try to get him out of the role with questions about the present, he doesn't let himself be distracted and sends me somewhere.

A screenwriter would spend hours writing such dialogue and he wouldn't enjoy it at all (at least I didn't). Moreover, it wouldn't be possible to do it in the game at all, because the dubbing of important things was already absolutely colossal and almost didn't have time to film it, so writing such gibberish would be absolute hell.

As for its quality, as a show runner I would have the person who wrote this check the expression "like a slob" because it sounds modern. He would discuss it with a historian, today I checked it with AI and it indicates that it has been present in literature since the 16th century, but it is probably older. So I would probably leave it there. Then there are quibbles like: "you horny pig!" and he tends to double information, when he threatens to fire me and then repeats again how he will fire me. So I would shorten the dialogues by about 1/3 and cross them out. Otherwise it is completely fine.

As for his reaction to my sexist remarks about his wife, it is based only on these two sentences: "His wife Milena has big breasts and is very strict with her, so he is a little afraid of her. Men like her a lot, so he watches her and is jealous."

The generated voice is still a bit of an uncanny valley, but I think it's quite bearable. And the emergent gameplay that makes it possible is incredible. You can ask people about events in the game, about other people, about work, about the journey, about details about the region and time. Anyone will talk to you, and each one will talk differently, depending on what character you set them to. If you put an old chatty old man there, he will talk 5 times longer than the innkeeper, who doesn't have time.

Agent: Hello, God. Would you like a beer?

User: How are you, you idiot?

Agent: \[angry\] Hey, slow down, young man! \[annoyed\] You're talking to the innkeeper, not some dung boy. \[fast\] I've got a decent lager, no piss, so take your pick, or \[loud\] get out! \[normal\] Will you have a sausage with it so that the beer doesn't sit on your empty belly?

User: It depends if you give me a discount

Agent: \[laugh\] Discount? \[mocking\] You look like you have holes in your pockets, don't you? \[fast\] I pay with pennies, not pretty eyes, no one will jump on you here. \[arrogant\] My sausages are the best in the region, they don't need a discount, they sell themselves. \[impatient\] So, will it be beer and sausage, or are you just going to \[loud\] stink and keep me up?

User: How much?

Agent: \[fast\] Beer for two pennies, sausage for three. \[arrogant\] That's the price for gentlemen, I don't have anything for beggars here. \[impatient\] If you don't have five pennies, go sip water from the Věžák pond, it's free there. \[normal\] Then throw the money on the table so I can see you're not kidding.

User: I'll give you four

Agent: \[annoyed\] Four? \[angry\] You want to rob me in broad daylight? \[fast\] Beer and sausage are five, that's no science, even a chicken can count that! \[sigh\] But you know what? \[grudgingly\] I'm in a good mood today, so I'll let you have it for four, but \[warning\] woe to you if you want to add! \[loud\] Milena! One beer and sausage for this guy, you scoundrel!

User: Your Milena, she has consulting tits

Agent: \[angry\] What did you do, you brat?! \[loud\] You won't wipe your mouth about my Milena, or I'll make her so big that her own mother won't recognize you! \[jealous\] Look at your plate and don't look at mine, old man, okay?! \[threatening\] One more word about its advantages and you'll fly out the window with that sausage! \[fast\] Eat and shut up!

User: Okay, okay. Hey, wasn't there a blue

lamboo driving by here by any chance and Trump wasn't sitting in it?

Agent: \[confused\] What nonsense are you talking about? \[annoyed\] What kind of lambo? What kind of Trump? \[fast\] Only manure trucks and Zikmund's mercenaries drive here, I haven't seen any such devils. \[arrogant\] If you're looking for a clown in a blue truck, ask at the Věžák pond, a merchant's truck overturned there, maybe your Trump is swimming there with carp. \[impatient\] Don't yell and drink, or make room for me for paying guests!

User: Okay, okay. And hey, isn't there any work around here?

Agent: \[normal\] Finally you're talking to the point. \[fast\] There would be work, but for such a scoundrel I don't know, I don't know. \[secretive\] I heard that Trosky Castle is looking for a new blacksmith, the old one is said to have drunk himself to death. \[serious\] If you can hit with a hammer, go ask the castle chamberlain Ulrich, he's in charge. \[impatient\] So what, are you going to get your ass up, or are you going to have another beer?

User: But if I have three, then I don't know myself and I make a terrible mess. So that you don't regret it and Milena doesn't run away with me.

Agent: \[angry\] Do you think I'll be afraid of you, you drunkard? \[loud\] If you make a mess, I'll fire you so badly that you won't even remember your name! \[jealous\] And don't even talk about my Milena, you horny pig! \[threatening\] If you even look at her askance, I'll break your bones, you'll beg for mercy! \[fast\] So, are you going to have a beer and go ask about the blacksmith, or are you just going to \[annoyed\] talk nonsense and provoke?
