Madden 26 vs CFB 26 – Hear me out

I’ve been an avid Madden player since the Mike Vick 04 cover. College Football always had hype about a month before Madden dropped, but it would usually fade. After the NFL season started, Madden was still the game people played even months after the Super Bowl.

But last year, and especially this year with Madden 26, I’m finding the game almost unplayable.

I mostly play Franchise, which is still a solid experience. But online H2H, which is where Madden really lives, just doesn’t feel like football anymore. There’s barely any real chance of an organic turnover. Being down 14 at halftime doesn’t even feel like a real challenge to overcome. It just turns into running cheese plays, running cheese defense, and managing the clock.

I’ve been playing CFB 26 online instead, and every game feels like a nail biter. Big hits matter. Pocket presence vs Defensive lineman matter, situational blitzes matter, Coverage adjustments matter. Momentum swings actually feel real. In CFB, if I’m up 14 in the third quarter, that lead is not safe. I love that about virtual football.

Madden just feels flat right now. Maybe EA leaned too hard into SBMM after introducing it in Madden 24 and it shifted the focus toward MUT in hopes of funneling the Online H2H players out. I don’t know.

Just my two cents. CFB knocked it out of the park this year.

What do you guys think?
