Why I’m Low-Key Considering Retiring Abroad (and You Might Too)
I used to think retirement meant staying where life happened.
Same streets. Same routines. Same memories.
But lately I’ve realized something simple
memories don’t live in places, they live in you.
So I started asking myself
Why hold on to a location that no longer fits the pace of my life
Why keep paying more for stress I don’t even want anymore
The idea of retiring abroad stopped feeling scary
and started feeling gentle
Not starting over
Just choosing softer mornings
warmer weather
and days that don’t rush me
Funny thing is, younger people move all the time looking for where they feel right
Retirement might just be our version of that
Not running away from the past
just giving the next chapter a kinder setting
And honestly
that feels less like leaving home
and more like finally arriving
How about you? would you ever consider retiring abroad, or do you feel safer staying close to home? I’d really love to hear your thoughts.
