Were Ronal and Rotxo's deaths meaningful… or just shock value?

Discussion

As the title says, I'm kinda disappointed/frustrated with how they handled these deaths. I get that big losses can raise the stakes, but what bothers me is how little acknowledgment there was afterward. We didn’t see any reactions from family members, loved ones, or the clan. No funeral. No ritual. No communal mourning. I know we saw this for Neteyam at the end of AWOW, so I can see why they may not have due to repetition, but still...

It almost felt like their deaths happened and then the movie just… moved on. The focus shifted quickly to the ending with Spider, and that was kind of it.

Roxto is obviously a side character, so while I loved him, I can understand why the story didn't linger as much. But Ronal? She’s the Tsahìk of the clan. That’s not a minor role. You’d think her death would carry a big cultural and narrative weight. It kinda feels harder to just brush past that.

Anywho, just curious if other people felt similarly

Do you think their deaths were mainly for shock value? Or do you think they’re going to be narratively important for certain characters in A4 (if we get it)?
