19M - New York, spending my gap year as a theater actor! Lets chat theater!
Hey — I’m 19, into philosophy, literature, and history, and I tend to treat conversations like long-form essays that accidentally turn into debates at 2 a.m. I spent my gap year working as a theater actor, which means I oscillate between quoting obscure texts and being far too comfortable under stage lights.
Some highlights from the past year:
4.48 Psychosis by Sarah Kane — a solo performance. Stripped-down staging, intense psychological fragmentation, and a focus on the character’s growing disconnection from reality and self. It was raw, exposed, and probably the most mentally demanding thing I’ve done.
A contemporary Latin American play about a man who completely unravels and “goes postal” — surreal, political, and increasingly chaotic. The role demanded a kind of escalating vulnerability as everything collapsed in the final act.
Pylades by Pier Paolo Pasolini — playing with themes of exile, desire, and ideological tension. My character’s intensity, restless longing, and sense of total exposure were central to the staging.
Those aren’t the only projects I’ve done, but they’re the ones that shaped me most.
I’m into people who like thinking deeply, arguing playfully, and aren’t scared of intensity (intellectual or otherwise). Happy to chat, debate, connect, or see where things go.
Tell me something you believe, a book that changed you, or a historical moment you can’t stop thinking about.
