Advice needed: Would CSP benefit me?
I hope your day is going well.
I have a few friends who keep insisting I apply for Chase Sapphire Preferred, mainly due to the flight credits. I have no idea if I would benefit from this credit card, and my own research has failed me because I still haven’t come to that conclusion. I was hoping this subreddit may be able to assist because it seems like you all have a lot of combined experience! I don’t spend a lot of money going out to eat because my partner is gracious and pays for me. I’m also very frugal when it comes to spending money on myself, I have a tight budget I stick to.
- Current cards: Citi Simplicity for a BT (interest free for a yr, will pay off before interest starts to accrue)
- FICO Score: 748
- Oldest account age: 7 years 2 months
- Chase 5/24 status: 0/24
- Income: 54,000
- Average monthly spend and categories:
• dining: varies, $200-$250
• groceries: $300
• gas: $140
• travel: N/A (3 bigger trips coming up this year)
• other (rent, bills, personal): $1,160
- Open to Business Cards: No
- What's the purpose of your next card?: Travel, Cashback (I am not sure if cashback is more useful than travel credits)
- Do you have any cards you've been looking at?: Chase Sapphire Preferred, Capital One Venture
- Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? I’m okay with either or. Preferably general spending as my partner does most of the heavy lifting when it comes to gifts/dining
Thank you all. Please let me know if you need more information.
