Are "forever saves" as a concept actually an outlier to how most people play the games?

Discussion

So I recently stumbled upon the rabbit hole of Poketubers making "forever saves". Basically saves they commit to never overwriting, and doing as close to everything as they are able to do on a single save in the game. They'll play these saves for months, or even years.

The thing is, having been a Pokemon fan since the dawn of the franchise, this is simply how I've treated every Pokemon game I've ever owned. I never overwrite my saves, and I always go for as much of the content as possible. That'll include catching as many Pokemon as I possibly can (which nowadays usually means I finish the Pokedex or get very close to doing so), doing all the ingame content (main story, side content, etc), and even doing some bonus stuff like shiny hunting.

It's just how I've always assumed most people play this game. So I'm wondering what people here normally do. Do you guys play on one single save that you make the day you first spin up the game? Or are you more happy to reset a game to replay the story from the beginning? And how long do you typically continue playing the games for after you've beaten the main story content?
