Is it possible to delete my account if my total funds are negative balance?
I have had an eBay account for over a decade and have sold a handful of items on this platform. I recently dealt with a nightmare buyer who abused the returns system - he broke the item almost 3 weeks after delivery and opened an item not as described claim. Because it’s effing eBay, they forced me to accept the return but I kept escalating the return fraud to eBay via phone. After speaking on the phone with 5 different eBay reps and finally a supervisor, I was able to get eBay to open and close a case in my favor regarding the returns abuse, get eBay to refund the buyer from their account, keep my funds, and maintain good seller status with my account.
With this, I was also promised multiple times that I would be refunded the return postage that I paid for because eBay policy doesn’t force the seller to be responsible for return costs when receiving a broken item AKA an item in different condition than it was delivered. I still haven’t received a refund for this return shipping cost and now my total funds are negative $6.68 due to eBay not having refunded this amount and my refusal to paying it. I received notification from eBay that they will automatically try to take payment from my bank account next week if I don’t pay on my own. I have already called my bank to block eBay from taking payment. I also tried to remove my banking information from eBay but the system will not allow removal of this until my total funds are $0.00 and not negative. I tried to delete my eBay account entirely but it won’t let me delete it with that negative balance either.
I really just want to disconnect all ties from eBay because they don’t properly take care of their sellers in fraud/abuse cases and force us to jump through hoops for a resolution. Does anyone know how I can delete my eBay account entirely or delete my banking information from eBay with this negative balance still there? My last resort would be to file a claim against their charge if it does go through per my bank, but I’d rather avoid all this if possible.
