Mining outpost defending

Hello, i'm fairly new to factorio and i was wondering if defending my copper mining site this way would be good enough? I'm nearly at the end of the game, only needing to fuel the rocket and i never had any bitter problems untill now, so i want to be sure than my base and surrounding area is safe (there's obviously going to be way more turrets, but i just need to know if it's worth it)
