how do i paint water bottle and make it dishwasher safe?

i got a Stanly cup for my birthday and i want to paint it using either posca markers or acrylics but i don't know where to start. i don't know what materials to use the what the process is to actually make it paintable and how to make what i've painted dishwasher safe. thank you!
