Whether figuratively or even literally, were you ever slapped down for building yourself up any significant amount? Does this prevent you from trying to, even today?

• Whether figuratively or directly, physically, were you ever slapped down for having too much confidence and self-trust?
• Does this prevent you from trying to build yourself back up, whether knowing they'd be right there to do it again or that someone else would, assuming anyone?
• Did you simply forfeit the idea otherwise?
