After the reality check of my last post looking for advice, I decided - when I found the time - to heed some of the advice.

Unfortunately new equipment was not in the budget so I'm stuck with what was at one point (nearly ten years ago) top of the line home LED grow lights, even if they are purple (lol).

Now, I think I will get some pushback on having different types of plants housed with tomatoes under the same grow lights with the same amount of daylight hours (and I think it's against the rules to talk about NTP [Non-Tomato Plants]) so I'll just pretend like they aren't there for the purposes of this post.

A few days ago I found the other two lights that I had purchased ages ago, rigged them up on some small plastic snatch-blocks that I had purchased for them, this way I can get the LEDs closer to the plants and adjust distance easier as the plants grow.

I decided to plant all of the new seedlings in red solo cups using premium indoor potting soil mix (it was what I had on hand), approximately 3/4" deep. Burned a few holes in the bottom of the solo cups for drainage.

There's three pots with each: indigo rose, super sweet, and sungolds at the back left, and 4 pots with each mortgage lifters and beefsteak.

In each of the determinate cups I planted 6 seeds, 2 each in 3 separate holes.

In each of the indeterminate cups I planted 12 seeds, 3 each in 4 separate holes.

I intend to begin weeding out the weak seedlings once they start sprouting, keeping only the fastest to sprout, and seeming the quickest to grow.

Longer term I hope that we will be able to save seeds year after year so as to improve the strains that we are growing for our own micro climate as we live on the (wet) west coast of northern Canada and our season is both short and quite wet.

Eventually I have plans to build a wallipini style greenhouse with some geothermal ventilation, but I need another good paying job for a few years to afford that project.

I opted to try and salvage what was left of the seeds from the gulag, and created a couple of chaos pots, more as an experiment.
