\#MexicanGreetings!

I didn't get the WSER lottery ticket but got the 100k done at 18 hours and change. I feel somewhat happy but I know that I can do better. I also know that I'm not ready to go to the next distance (100 miler) until I can tame the 100k beast. I'm not getting any younger but the body is wise.

Some thoughts on my tech:

**Apple Watch Ultra 3:**

Time: 18:08:51 Distance: 102.65km Avg HR: 130 Max HR:175 Elevation: 2,027mts

**Pros:**

Amazingly good on the battery side. I only charged it a couple of times while resting (5 minutes or less tops) and it did great. Felt good and it wasn't intrusive.

**Cons:**

Map tracking would've killed the battery more.

Charging pauses the activity.

Battery life (but not as much of a con as I thought.

**Enduro 3 paired to Whoop:** Time: 18:08:52 Distance: 101.16km AHR: 128 MHR: 244 (Impossible) Elevation: 1,844 mts Battery: 42% as of today.

**Pros:**

Pace pro

Auto rest timer tracking

Web interface to analyze everything

Comfortable and solar powered

Recovery tools

Of course! Battery life.

**Cons:**

HR tracking is trash if not paired to something. (Spoiler...244 while sitting down COME ON!)

MUST wear the watch 24/7 to get the best recovery metrics and those still suck because the sleep tracking is trash.

Not so smart smartwatch which makes it difficult to wear 24/7

Rest timer sometimes didn't stop because I got out of the aid station walking.

Price. I find it expensive for what it offers regarding the HR tracking side only.

**T-Rex 3 Pro inside my pocket paired to Helio:** Distance: 95.48km (noticed that I paused the watch during the run) Time: 17:09:44 (paused time sucks!) AHR: 127 MHR: 150 Elevation: 1898 mts.

**Pros:**

Map tracking guidance is annoyingly great!

Battery life

Perfect combo with Helio and you can even take the watch off to avoid chafing or if you are tired or for whatever reason.

Wear it over garments if paired to helio. Super sleeve friendly.

Price even with the Helio added

Constant updates

**Cons:**

Lacks web interface for workout analysis.

Recovery metrics aren't as easy to analyze as in Whoop or even Garmin.

Needs the Helio strap to be the very best at HR tracking.

AI suggestions for training and how it gives you the workouts are not user friendly. E.g. it gave me a workout where the average HR would have to be 155 bpm. I would prefer that it would give me an interval session or something already programmed at those HRs ala Garmin Suggested Workouts.

**Whoop 5.0:** Distance: 103.4 km Time: 18:08:51 AHR: 127 MHR: 171 Elevation 4051 mts.

**Pros:**

Non intrusive and good Average HR

Very best recovery metrics and AI usage

Battery life

Charger

HR push

**Cons:**

HR spikes

Lacks web interface

PRICE! (Shocker I know...) It is only worth it the first year if used correctly to act upon your habits. After that it starts diminishing as you need even better tools and only the software keeps you coming back to it.

**Final thoughts:**

The overall best tracker that I would use in a perfect world would be the T-Rex 3 Pro with the Helio Strap connected. The map routing from Amazfit is super sensitive and even annoying at times, it told me to turn right and left even when there was no way I could turn otherwise which was annoying until the night fell, then it was KEY! Even the people running behind me and in front me were like, man I was going to tell you to turn that shit off but now I'm glad you have it on! Which app is that? Talks about the quality of the speakers since the watch was on my pocket and even in those conditions it could be heard. The elevation was good and the HR data was spotless! Only reasons that deter me away from keeping it as my only watch are: Pace pro from Garmin and the lack of web interface (I hate using my phone for analysis of my runs. Close second is the AWU3! I know...but it just works, given that my route tracking was being done by the T-Rex. Enduro is just that, the best overall but the HR tracking is crazy, when it disconnected from my Whoop it went to 244! I was like WTH! If I recall correctly I was sitting at an aid station when I saw it XD.

At the end of the day YOU DO YOU! My next step is somewhat a more relaxed one but I think that I will give the Amazfit training plan a try. San Diego Rock and Roll marathon here I come!

Tacos if you made it this far! Thanks and see you soon!
