Canadian moving to Austria - HELP!

I am moving to Austria from Canada in a few months for school, and I don’t know what to expect.

As a 23F, Canadians are not taught much about Austria except about WW2 history and what we see in pop culture, however, I don’t want to come to a country looking like an idiot and not respecting the people around me.

I’ve done some research on google, but I always think the best sources for information can be found from the people who live there. So if you have any tips, info or knowledge on cultural customs, what the people are like, women’s issues in the country, prominent religions, language, holidays, queer culture, political issues, education systems etc., I would love to learn more and integrate myself into the Austrian culture before arriving.

Please help a girl out. I refuse to look like an uneducated fool!
