student nurse summer experience for an out-of-towner?

hi there! i am from out of state, and stayed in the Raleigh area last summer, and expect to be back this summer. i am a student nurse at a 2-year ADN program in another state, and i'm looking to gain some experience--paid or unpaid--over the summer in an attempt to get established with a hospital as i plan to move to the area full-time upon graduation (May 2027). in December, i applied to UNC Health's nurse externship program, got rejected and planned to reapply to a different position within the program after i beefed up my resume over winter break with scholarship acceptances and a recent CNA title (just need to complete the North Carolina CNA reciprocity requirements). now i am ready to reapply, but unfortunately, no positions are remaining. i've looked into their volunteer program as well as other local hospital volunteer programs, but there are a few duration-related requirements that i cannot fulfill. if anyone has any recommendations for my situation, they would be greatly appreciated!
