Client services? Can someone explain the role

I am seeing some openings for vendor client services positions in my area. Can someone explain the day to day for someone in this role, as well as what types of backgrounds they come from? I’ve worked in a law firm and at vendors, but have not ever worked at a place with this specific title.

The job descriptions seem to suggest they are the first point of contact, setting expectations, helping to design the workflow, and trying to keep the tech side and client on the same page. This seems incredibly demanding so would also be interested in hearing of people’s experiences in the role.

I have worked at places where this role was taken by very experienced people at the upper end of the pay range, but the openings I am seeing aren’t looking for that level of experience.
