Am I overreacting for wanting my sister’s ex to completely leave her alone?

My sister went through one of the darkest periods of her life because of this relationship. The night she was already mentally unstable and struggling badly, he chose to break up with her. She was not okay. Her mental health was already fragile, and after that, it completely went downhill.

He blocked her everywhere. No closure. No support. Nothing. And then he told me that I should tell her to “accept it and move on.”

I was the one who stayed. I was the one who sat with her when she couldn’t stop crying. I was the one trying to keep her distracted, trying to keep her safe, trying to help her rebuild herself. It was not easy. She changed after that. She became quieter. Sadder.

Recently, she even started smoking. She never used to smoke before. And it hurts me to see that. I know it’s her way of coping. I know she’s still carrying pain she doesn’t talk about.

Now here’s what bothers me the most.

He has a new girlfriend. He’s in another relationship. But he still stalks my sister’s Instagram stories. He still checks everything she posts. And when she was sick one day, he reached out to me asking if she was okay.

If you’ve moved on, why are you still watching her life?

The worst part is my sister knows he’s still stalking her. She sees his name watching her stories. And I feel like that’s stopping her from fully healing. It’s like he’s not present in her life, but he’s not gone either. It’s this invisible presence that keeps reopening the wound.

I don’t want this for her. I don’t want her stuck in a place where she feels watched by someone who walked away when she needed him the most.

I just want her to move forward in peace. Without being reminded that he’s still there in the background.
