Is it going to be a pain (w.r.t finances) to own a pet(either a cat or a dog) as a student in Czech?

I've been devoid of a pet for some years now ever since I left home for studies and work and been longing to have one recently.

If it is going to be a burden for me financially, there any common places I can go to befriend them? (Like a petstore or something?)

The city I'll be staying in the country for about 6 months and the uni is University of South Bohemia
