Iwata Eclipse Air Valve problem

So I have a bit of an issue and need advice. I got an Eclipse recently, but tonight I have had problems with air pressure. The quick connector I have ended up with the O Ring jammed into the air valve (not sure how that happens) so got it out. Now I want to make sure a bit of the o ring hasn’t go one inside the valve, as when I put the quick connector back on pressure is very low. But I can’t for the life of me unscrew the valve to check. I have just ruined a pair of soft jaw pliers and I can see a metal pair could ruin the threads.

Any advice?
