First time to BGW?
A first time visit to BGW is like any. If you have theme-park experience to map over, that is valuable insight; but your very first time at a theme park, however, is entirely different.
Experienced park goers will know and focus on their niche: casual rides, thrill rides, shows, food, dedicated experience. Theme parks follow the theme park formula.
Busch Gardens Williamsburg has a website *and* an app. You can find different information on either. An all-day dining ticket in the app might be differently priced than an all-day dining ticket online; a behind the scenes experience might be fully booked in one, and have five seats available in the other. Know your territory, take advantage.
If you can visit the park twice within a 12 month span, get a membership. Period. Between discounts and perks, even the lowest tier membership costs less. Memberships are totally worth it, when providing for a group or multiple visits. If you have a large group (5+ adults, or 2+ adults with children), contact tours https://buschgardens.com/williamsburg/contact-us/ to get the most bang for your buck.
First timers benefit from knowing where things are. Download one of the endless maps available, confirm against geosatellite, and understand your location. England is the entrance, Italy is to the left, Scotland/Ireland to the right. Go straight, down into the valley between - past Highland Stables and Loch Ness monster - and come up the other side in Germany. Turning right in Germany, or going through Scotland/Ireland, will put you in France and New France. https://buschgardens.com/williamsburg/-/media/commercial/busch-gardens-williamsburg/images/events/core-events/mardi-gras/2026/26bgwmardigrasmap.jpg
The park is 100% cashless. There are kiosks that allow you to purchase prepaid cards; be aware of any balances left on BGW negotiables. This is a space to bring a credit card or other payment option that insulates you from fraud and loss. https://buschgardens.com/williamsburg/cashless/
Thrill rides are a significant attraction. Be aware of attire! As much as you enjoy your sandals, the good folk don't want to be handling your sweaty footwear. Loose articles, and people that stuff themselves and then challenge 3G physics, are the leading cause of ride closures. A rogue pair of sunglasses and a random case of motion sickness aren't good reasons for everyone to not enjoy themselves. Tour of Italy at Marco Polo's? - Maybe don't immediately get in line for Pantheon. Just sayin'... Ride open times can be found at https://buschgardens.com/williamsburg/rides/
At Busch Gardens Williamsburg it's a team effort - if you're unsure, find an ambassador or fellow parkgoer, and ask. That's how we roll at the BGW.
Enjoy your visit!
