I asked for a sign and it happened the exact second I thought it (1 year death anniversary)

Loss Anniversary

Exactly one year ago today, I lost my Nonna. She was basically my parent. She loved cardinals, and the very last conversation I ever had with her was her worrying that her bird feeder was empty and no birds were coming around because it was winter.

When the paramedics brought her out of the house on the stretcher, my family looked into the backyard and saw something we’ll never forget: despite the feeders being empty, 2 cardinals were sitting right there, and the yard was suddenly filled with 50+ other birds. It was like a silent send-off.

Fast forward to this morning.

Last year, my feet hit the floor to a phone call with the worst news of my life. This morning, I woke up, and as my feet hit the floor, I was thinking about her. I walked toward the window and thought to myself: “Wouldn’t it be weird if I looked outside and saw a cardinal? That would feel like a sign.”

The exact second I reached the window and the thought finished in my head, a cardinal flew directly across my line of sight. Not down in the yard—it was flying at the height of my second-story bedroom window, right in front of my face.

I went downstairs to tell my girlfriend, and the "coincidence" became impossible.

In my backyard bush, 2 cardinals were sitting right next to each other in the center. In the two trees next to them, there were 50+ birds in each tree. Here is the kicker: I do not have bird feeders. My neighbors have the exact same trees, and their yards were completely empty. The birds were only in my trees. They stayed long enough to recreate the exact scene from the day she died, mirroring the "crowd" that showed up for her a year ago.

I’m a logical person, but the math on this doesn’t add up. The 1-year anniversary, the 1-second timing of the thought, the eye-level flight, and the specific number of birds in a yard with no food...
