London shelving quote, is this reasonable?
I’ve been quoted £700+ to supply and fit four custom shelves into an alcove in a bedroom.
Details:
• 4 shelves, made from MDF
• Wrapped/veneered to colour-match existing IKEA wardrobes
• Built into an alcove (so scribing to walls likely needed)
• Quote includes measure, make, fit (no decorating beyond the veneer finish)
• Straightforward shelves (not cabinets), but fitted flush and tidy
This feels a bit on the high side to me for MDF shelves, even in London, but I know labour and scribing can add up.
For people with experience (homeowners or trades):
Does £700+ sound reasonable for this scope in London?
What would you expect as a rough breakdown (materials vs labour), and what details should I check in the quote?
Happy to share rough dimensions if that helps. Cheers!
