Shoutout to my Southwest Crew! Handled an impossible situation so well!
Hey friends. Recently had a ROUGH flight.
Flying from Vegas to New Orleans a few days ago. We had everything happen.
First off, a 3 hour delay in Vegas due to weather in NOLA. We board, but then we get another delay for an hour on the tarmac. What a mess huh?
The entire time, the crew is so friendly, chatting with us, passing out free drinks, and being so kind.
We take off, and while we are over Texas, another storm in New Orleans sets off severe thunderstorm warnings, and we get into a holding pattern.
During our 2 hours of flying in circles, a young woman had a panic attack in the row in front of me. The flight attendants ask for a doctor on board. They bring out some oxygen for her to breathe and calm down.
We then went on to try and land in New Orleans. It was bad.
Moderate to severe turbulence, we couldn’t do it, we went back up.
Pilot came on and said we were at minimum fuel due to the holding pattern and with the weather, we don’t have enough fuel for a go-around, so we are diverting to Houston.
Landed in Houston, we got more fuel, sat on the tarmac some more, and then went on to make a short 30 minute hop to New Orleans.
Original landing time was 10pm. We landed at 6:30am the next day.
It was rough. It was frustrating. It was a bit sketchy, but our crew handled it so well and never showed any frustration or lack of professionalism.
Awesome job.
