This sketch explores a double breasted puffer overcoat as a vehicle for authority rather than trend.

The concept was developed last year around the figure of Anubis not as iconography but as behavioral reference. Anubis represents guardianship, judgment, and restraint. Qualities that felt appropriate when thinking about contemporary outerwear for a mature male demographic. The jackal influence informed the sharpness and direction of the collar and lapel structure, aiming for presence without aggression.

Materially, the intent was a high-density technical nylon shell with internal puffer construction. Insulation is treated as protection rather than volume Disciplined by tailoring to avoid the visual language of youth coded streetwear. The double breasted front acts as containment, anchoring the garment in authority rather than exaggeration.

This sketch was never executed because it sits on an extremely fragile line. Push too far and it collapses into youth styling but pull back and it defaults to a classic overcoat. That tension is precisely why it remains interesting to me, especially in light of ongoing conversations about how little contemporary design actively engages with mature masculinity.

I’m interested in critique around proportion, silhouette logic, and whether this reads as forward-looking rather than referential.

Note that this one is actually just a concept idea, not meant for actual production.
