I have a question about mk1 (SPOILERS BEWARE)

Currently playing through the story mode. Amazing. Loving it so far. But I have a question…when liu kang initially brought back titan allies from other timelines, how could Shang tsung’s minions evenly fight them? Aren’t titans almost infinite in power? And Shang tsung’s minions were just like raiden and kung Lao, fighters in his timeline. Please no spoilers past this part, I just want an explanation on how mere mortals can fight at the level of titans. Thanks!
